The story

Hollie’s passion for advocacy began on the river. As a whitewater guide, she taught rafters about the need for water conservation, wildlife protection and responsible outdoor recreation. Over a decade later, she was having similar conversations with representatives in Washington, D.C. Guide skills informed Hollie's approach in many roles throughout her career. Leading a team of rafters is much like leading a team of citizen advocates: share important facts, provide context and paddle together. Mastery in public speaking, assessing risk, and organizing teams were also formed on the riverbanks of the West.

The same skills Hollie used to organize wilderness expeditions have been put to use coordinating fundraising events for a number of small nonprofits in both paid and volunteer roles. She has planned everything from small get-togethers (“friend-raisers” and informal talks) to large-scale fundraising events (galas and festivals with 1,000+ attendees).

Like the meanders of a Western river, Hollie’s career has taken many turns, but always in the same direction — toward progress. Interests in conservation, education and the good of society in general have led to a lifelong career in advocacy.

Hollie grew up on the New Mexico/Colorado border surrounded by rocky mountains and red deserts. After finding equally impressive landscapes up north, she moved to Idaho in 2012. Hollie holds an undergraduate degree in English education from Fort Lewis College and a graduate degree in public administration from Boise State University. She spends her spare time testing recipes with her daughter and watching football or hockey.
